Michael Cooper, Rural Watercolour Artist, is Retiring

We’re so sorry to announce that Michael Cooper, much loved rural watercolour artist, is to retire. It’s over forty years now since Michael opened his first studio gallery at Crispin Hall in Street, moving on to set up galleries in Clarks Village. With the start of his semi-retirement fourteen years ago, he joined Somerset Crafts. During all those years, with his lovely dry sense of humour and kind, wise nature he was an iconic and valued member of Somerset Crafts, and will be sorely missed. His work will no longer be on display, or available to buy at Somerset Crafts.
The following link leads to Michael’s blog where there are a series of small essays on trying to make a living as an artist with some tricks of the trade on selling and promotion etc. It also contains anecdotes about his life as a rural artist and some stories about the characters and customers that made it so interesting.
