I was born in Somerset and raised on a small holding, growing up close to the Quantock hills and Exmoor. I had a very happy childhood surrounded by animals with the freedom to express my creative nature. Knitting started at the age of five, taught by my grandmother and mother and also part of my first years at school. The progression to produce my own yarns after moving to Cornwall in 1980 established my love of spinning and creating yarns with unique colours dyed from nature.
I choose local fleece from a variety of breeds and rare breeds to produce yarns with particular textures and colour for knitting and crochet. Fleece is prepared and dyed either with organic dye or acid dyes before spinning on my wheel to produce a skein unique or for a knitted garment.
I am based in Wembdon and available for workshops in spinning, dyeing from nature and felting.
