My name is Robert Broomsgrove and I am a stone mason. I gained a level 3 NVQ qualification while working at Wells cathedral and studying at Weymouth college as an apprentice. I have competed in several competitions and have been lucky enough to have been awarded a Silver medal at WorldSkills as well as a Bronze medal at EuroSkills.
Stone is a huge part of my life. If I’m not carving it, I will be climbing it. It is a strenuous activity and occasionally a punishing mentor. The lessons are frequent and rewarding. I feel grateful to have such a drive and fixation with a beautiful, natural and timeless material
